Combination of commercial-grade shelving units, modular bracket units, peg board, and shelving I made. Basically just left over stuff to get me by until I can get around to doing something better.

I am putting in a lift as soon as the attic cools down.
Which one are you using, I have been thinking about doing this?

Since you asked about metal shelving options, I purchased 2 each of these earlier this year (Amazon) for carport-garage shelving. So far I’m happy with them. Purchased plastic totes from Home Depot of various sizes to organize-store items. I initially planned to build shelves as already posted but in the interest of time, estimated cost was going to be similar, I went with the metal shelving.
I also purchased a pair of these several years ago, from Costco, to free up garage floor space for seldom used items several years ago but as I recall I paid 1/2 this amount as they were closeout at the time and it was pre-Covid. They are heavy duty.

I will be retiring in the next few years and feel compelled to comment in this discussion. I am currently on my 9th garbage can of crap from the attic garage and now garage "storage" items. Granted, my wife is a school teacher so 5 of those cans were old classroom materials that we got rid of. But I am here to tell you, if you're storing shite, the day will come when some of it becomes waste. This purge has been rewarding and I will have my garage and tools set up for my retirement. It will still function for vehicles, but when those are pulled out will be my workshop and sports lounge! When I get done with the clean out, I plan on documenting the reno.
I'll have an overhead 4X8 storage rack for sale once I'm done. It mounts to the ceiling joists and you can adjust the height for your specific needs.
