Why is my home becoming infested with these things as of late? Ok, maybe not infested, but we're finding at least 2-3 a day inside for the past few months. Is it the heat maybe?

You must be living in a drought area. They are coming in looking for water.

I had them bad a few years ago in South MS. Been in this house since 08 and never had a problem. In the mornings, I could kill 5-6 on our light colored tile. Who knows how many we didn’t see on our wood floors.

Our pest guy said they were bad at other houses that yr, he simply sprayed a little extra of whatever he was using. I’ve probably seen two in the last 6months. Not sure what caused our spike.

My pest guy is a lot like crawfish farmers,,,too hot, too cold, too much rain, not enough rain. I've heard it all for why an insect wants to get into my house.

I've posted about them (and less frequently some roaches) a few times this summer. It's the dramatic heat with lack of rain. They like cool, dark and damp, and it's been hot, bright and dry outside.

The other day I dropped an ice cube and it rolled to a corner of my kitchen. Forgot to go pick it up right away and it melted. Next time I walked by there were two earwigs that must have come from under the baseboard where it melted. They're so desperate for water they came scurrying out the second something spilled on the floor

There's some effective DIY traps you can make. Get a container, put 1 cup cooking oil and 1/4 cup soy sauce, cover with plastic wrap and poke some holes for them to climb in and get stuck. Put it where you see them most (likely your kitchen or bathrooms) and leave overnight.

Hopefully the problem dies down in a month or two when temperatures moderate
