re: Drain for washer machine backs up
every three to 4 years i have to have a water jetter come out and clean the drain out, same thing, built in the 60's. he runs his line a good ways down, turns it on and then continues to push out the clog. costs me 165.00 every 4 years.

Had the same problem because I bought a speed queen on the boards recommendations. Speed queen makes a rubber stopper like thing that goes into the pipe and you stick the drain hose into this rubber stopper. Haven't had any problems since. Older homes have smaller drains for the washing machines then ones built just recently due to changes in code.

Hmm. I don't know if he's talking about the dishwasher or washing machine now.

I called a plumber. He’ll be over Monday morning. I did what I could, but no success.

Probably a good call. I would have suggested the item below as a possible solution for a clog but you may have a deteriorating line.

Don't know about washer drains but for slow sink drains, I put about 4 or 5 heaping TBS of baking soda down my drain. Then pour about 2 cups of vinegar down drain. Produces a violent foaming action that cleans and breaks up clogs. Also kills all mold and mildew build up. Also kind of fun making a volcano.
