If so, how tall?

Is it standing alone or did you landscape around it?

Are the solar lights for the top of the pole any good?

Pics?

I do not have one, but my one rec would be to not put the solar light at the top. It will go out, then you either have to rent a lift or pay someone to come replace it.

I’ve got this one from Harbor Fright.

LINK

It says it’s 20 feet but I think one of my sections isn’t extended all the way and I put it 3 feet or so in the ground. So it’s probably 12 feet high. I’ve got it in my backyard close to our fence with nothing around it. I bought a light for the top. It last maybe 3 months. I decided not to get another light like that after it died and went with 2 solar spot lights that I attached to our fence.

The flag that comes with that pole is pretty cheap. Once it faded I ordered a good one from our state representative’s office. I thought I ordered a 3x5 but accidentally ordered a 5x8. It’s excessive but has held up much better.

My neighbor has a telescoping flagpole. It looks to be around 20 feet tall. It has a solar light on top. They have had it for five or six years. To my knowledge, they haven’t had any issues with the light during that time. The telescoping pole makes it easy to deal with any issues.

My late father-in-law has one on his property in CENLA.

It had rusted at ground level and fell over so I cut it a bit farther up from the rust and reset it in the ground in concrete with enough to have it mound above ground level so I could slope the top of the concrete away from the pipe. That kept water from collecting around the base. It's been in the ground for over 20 years now and still looking good.

No lights on it and it's a good 20 ft. tall above ground with about 3 ft. of it in the ground.

I purchased a 20 or 25 foot aluminum flagpole from flagpoles etc. Its set in a sleeve with sand, surrounded by concrete. My flagpole is in the corner of two fences, so I landscaped the corner area. I've been having it for about 10 years with no problems. It sways ever so slightly in heavy winds, but the pole is thicker at the bottom and I never noticed any stress fractures/problems. I never did the lighting stuff....as others mentioned, they fail easily and its a pain to repair if the light is on top of the pole.
