Will change fuel filter and hydraulic filter this afternoon to see if that works but stumped on what else to do. It’s hydrostatic so could it also be hydraulic issue when turning blades on and trying to turn? It’s a reel mower and when I try to turn its sounding like it’s dying down. When I put blades on and try to go forward it dies down. Not sure if it’s fuel or hydraulic. Yanmar engine. TIA

2653a John Deere it runs like it’s in half throttle and it’s hydrostatic so when I push foward peddle all the way it causes the engine to sound like there isn’t enough fuel to allow it to go that fast. That’s why I thought it could be, hydraulic issue. All 3 wheels have hydraulic motors. Thought maybe this was causing to not have power to run because the hydraulics were messed up.

Just change the fuel filter before you do anything else…. Trust me

I changed fuel filter and it did nothing. Will start checking fuel supply lines next.

Blow the fuel line coming from the tank. Trash in line or could be sucking air. Crack injector lines to see if you can identify a miss, etc.

I noticed tonight that it has black smoke coming out of exhaust when it starts. It also smokes a little when trying to accelerate. Is this a sign of bad injectors or injector pump going out or worse, is my engine going bad?

Fuel cap will start to get clogged on diesels, and it puts a vacuum on the tank and prevents diesel flowing into the fuel pump at high RPM, and you get a starvation issue. a $9 fuel cap will fix that. If that makes no changes, of course make sure the air filter is clean, then inspect fuel feed from tank to filter.

Got it running right. There was air in the injector line that the previous owner had changed before it was shipped. Thats how I figured what it was after blowing air through fuel line made no change.
