anyone have any experience having a house built with them?
I'm looking to build on a 1 acre lot and like some of their house plans.

We looked into them. If you pick strictly what they offer and nothing else it’s not bad, otherwise you have to buy something they don’t have if it’s a certain fixture or fan or style that’s on you. They don’t pour a driveway either. With them, the more basic you keep it the easier. We didn’t like that so went with a builder we both liked.

My sister built with them a year or two ago and this is pretty much what I was going to write.
Oh and they dont do mirrors either, or at least they didnt do it for her.
One of their colums cracked a little over a year after the house was built. They could have said f off, but they replaced it free of charge.

I work over there, any specific questions I can shoot you straight on. Some of this info is not completely accurate and some is partially accurate.
1. We do have a system and if you are outside the system it costs more. We build 70% our plans and 30% custom plans. The customer plans have a premium bc its custom and unique and that has different challenges. Just drawing custom plans up and stamping them costs probably $1.50 more per sqft. We are a value based business. We have agreements with Moen and Craftmade lights. If you wanted Delta and Quorum it's going to cost more, but it's not that we dont do it.
2. We do do driveways, dirt work, and site related things, but the confusion is it's not in the price we give people initially. We visit your site and give you a quote. We do custom homes and projects on people's property, it's very difficult when they walk in our office to know how much driveway they need and want. How far they going to be off a road and what type of service they need. That will be quoted, put on allowance (in case the quote is not perfect or the plan changes on something like how big the driveway is). We have a driveway agreement that shows what we charge per sqft of concrete work and like most things, the more you do the better the price. 200 sqft is a lot different than 2,000.
3. Our warranty is top notch. Anyone built with us knows we are more than fair and reasonable. We have a warranty coordinator and he keeps that relationship going.

Talked with them a while back, they seem pretty good if you go with their plans. The problem I had with them is I would have had to contract the following myself: Generator install, security /camera system, outdoor kitchen and the sewer plant. Seems like they wanted to handle the basic house only.

I built with Townsend 3 years ago before they merged with Cretin. We did a custom plan. No complaints start to finish- helpful staff. They don't (or didn't) do finishing touches (concrete for driveway, mirrors, knobs, etc...) But neither do most others. If you have land, this is the best bang for the buck company to go with IMO.
