Before getting bids I’m trying to get a ballpark figure to decide if I should move forward.

8/12 pitch
Architectural shingles
Tear off/dispose/install new shingles
Labor and materials

TIA

20k is a good initial estimate without any square footage given.

Prices are all over the place with anywhere from $3.50-$5.50 a sq. ft., or $350 to $550 a square. That depends on material, access for mechanical loading the roof, pitch, any sheathing damage and replacement.

$550 lol

That is crazy high.

$110-120 material

$60 to put on and usually double that to take off.

No doubt that's high, but was only going by what I found on the net for total roof replacement. There was a notation that those prices are the average in many areas, but not in all and prices varied.

Had to get new roof for old house to sell it. Dont know the pitch, but had architectural shingles and house was about 1500 sq ft (living area + 2 car garage) and it cost us $6,500 if i recall.

Size of your house or number of squares is needed to provide an idea. The other post $200 - $250 sq about right.
I would wait until hurricane season is over, just in case you are able to make an insurance claim (or avoid hail damage).
