Can I use any appropriate sized blades for my mower?

More specifically, I have a Gravely 52 XL and need to replace the blades.
For instance, I’ve seen reviews of an aftermarket blade that is heavier than OEM and is for the “Gravely PRO 52” which I assume has a bigger engine.
Thoughts?

As long as it is the right length and for the correct shaft size. it shouldn't matter. Did the OEM blades not last long enough?

As mentioned, the most important thing is the length and shaft size/shape. However, I’ve found going with a heavier blade really impacts the performance of the cut I get and I’ve been going back to OEM style/weight high lift blades.

different brands use different blade mounting fitments
most are star shaped with either 5 point or 6 point stars so yes, to some degree it has to be the correct style blade, but no it doesnt have to be a name brand blade.
oregan and sten are the two most popular generic names for blades and belts and they carry them for all the different types of mowers
