Over the past 10 days or so these bugs have started coming out at night in droves. Obv attracted to light as they swarm the back three windows of my house. Every night has gotten worse with the amount but also these assholes have started to dive bomb anyone getting near them or even walking on the back patio. What’s the remedy for getting rid of them? Third summer in current house, never had a problem before. TIA
BR, southdowns area.

So I've been trying to research for several days what these were. I thought they were some kind of click beetle, I don't think they are black soldier flies.
I've been in current house 10 years and have never seen them. I have to enter/exit my house at a back door that doesnt have lights.
I have noticed they spend daytime in my garden. I got a few photos I'll try to post later.

Black soldier flies can be seen in bright, sunlit areas, resting on nearby structures or vegetation and frequenting flowers of the daisy and carrot families. They are one of the most beneficial flies in existence and are considered non-pests. The adult black soldier fly does not have mouthparts and does not feed upon waste. They do not bite, and as only the larva feed, are not associated with transmitting any diseases. Also, this species makes the breeding areas of houseflies less desirable.

Ok, we’ll I guess identifying them first would be beneficial. They look very similar. Was told that’s what they were. Either way need to get rid whatever the hell they are. Currently have a DYNATRAP in my Costco cart.
Dont know how to post pictures.
That being said posting a picture should be much easier.

Got this from a local avid gardener.
“They are sharpshooters. They suck juice out of plants. Spray plants around there with sevin should clear it up
I have Sevin if you need it. Buy the latest Sevin that kills 500 insects and not the one that kills 70. “

That is the bug!
Does the local avid gardner have a pollinator friendly method to deal with sharpshooters? I have a pollinator garden that has them.

According to Nextdoor they are leafhoppers AKA sharpshooters AKA Cicadellidae. They eat fruit apparently.
