Recently bought a home and unfortunately the pool equipment was leaking large amounts of water. Due to this the skimmer was unable to work. Fast forward to now equipment and all pipes are now working, but now I have a large amount of dirt in the pool from putting in decking around the pool/digging up leaking pipes. Anyone have any experience removing large amounts of dirt from the bottom of their pool, or a recommendation for a good vacuum to remove the sediment?

Is it dry dirt or is there water in the pool, too? If dry dirt, just use a shovel or shop vac. If water in the pool with dirt at bottom, I'd recommend getting a dolphin robot. Best place to buy them is at Marina Pool & Spa in Colorado. You can call them up and order over phone. Entry price is around $600 I think, but can get into the $1,000+ depending on what you features you want. I have a dolphin and love it.

Maybe just try a small submersible (dirty water) pump and move it around.

Home Depot sells vacuum head with bad you can attach to your pump. Like a small Polaris that’s manually moved by a pole

The answer depends on the type of dirt and amount of dirt at the bottom of your pool.

If the problem is a large amount of plain ole dirt, then any vacuum head with the octo-valve set to waste is the solution as you don't want the dirt going through and "filling" the filter (unless you enjoy back-flushing the filter).

For debris such as leaves, the vacuum head with the bag is good as you wouldn't want large items going through the pump.

A picture of the pool would help provide a better response. I'm sure you could also find YouTube videos with a scenario similar to your pool.

Best prices and free shipping. Plus the lady is super knowledgeable and won't talk you into buying something you don't need.

I use my regular pump vacuum head but line the skimmer basket with skimmer socks that I found at pool store. They are like double layered pantyhose with elastic at top. It allows water (obviously reduced flow) but catches dirt and sand. Works well.
