Best turf for S Louisiana

My St Aug is on its deathbed. Only a few years old but I’ve tried every fungicide and pesticide and it is continuing to die a slow death. Appears to be diseased, but now that it’s all almost dead, I’m ready to explore what’s next.
What is the best turf for south Louisiana heat? I don’t mind maintenance, but need something disease resistant.
I’ve had Zoysia and Centipede in the past. The Zoysia seemed to get fungus in September at a previous house.

Bermuda. Tifway 419 has been the hybrid standard for years, but it sucks in the shade. If you have about 50% shade or less, Tahoma 31 can handle that.
Shade > 50%, any Bermuda won’t do well. In that case, Zeon Zoysia would be my pick. That’s just me though.

Thanks, this is full sun other than seasonal shade next to a hedge.

I would go with a Bermuda, especially since you’re looking for something drought and disease resistant. Call up your local sod farms and see what types they grow, that’ll be your options.
From there, you can research the pros/cons of each. I like 419 because I’m just so familiar with it and like the look, but there’s many other great Bermuda options.

Do you remember what kind of zoysia? That stuff has been pretty rugged for me, but there are a lot of cultivars out there now and many look different from each other.
I’m on team Tifway 419 in my front yard. Many of my friends farther north all tell me if they had to make a switch from their Tifway 419 it would be to Tacoma 31. Oklahoma State came up with it and it needs far less water and stays greener longer when normal bermuda starts to go dormant.

I want to say it was Emerald. This was 2008-2009.

Can I seed? Or should I get the old St Aug cut out? I don’t want to add any elevation to my yard.

water and fertilize it.
with this heat and lack of rain is bad time to reseed or resod. hold off.

I have tif 419. Huge fan if you look at my history. If I was going with a brand new lawn I’d go Tahoma 31, celebration, or latitude 36. Those are improved hybrids compared to the tif variety. Tif is still going to be the most widely available so don’t buy something you can’t replace easily.
