About to apply atrazine. Wondering if anyone has any first hand accounts of effectiveness of it killing nutsedge? I have Sedgehammer available, but didn’t want to waste it if atrazine will do the trick.

No

Use the Sedgehammer - assume that’s why you bought it?

Yes, nutsedge got out of control this spring/summer. This will be my 3rd application since May.

I sprayed MSM and killed everything......and now sedge and VBW is coming back.
I am done, gonna start killing VBW with roundup and just cut the rest.

Late enough in the year now that I’ve caved to the sedge. Gonna try to kill it early and often next year.

Those two along with cockroaches will be all that is left if we have a nuclear holocaust. I have yet to find a way to kill that shite. VBW seems to pop up and grow sizeably overnight.

Atrazine is effective in lowering testosterone in men apparently. I guess that's the cause of all the puff's claiming to be men these days.

I have nutsedge spreading amongst some day lillies and some variegated flax lilly. Can I spray Sledgehammer in there and not worry about killing my other plants?

I have the same issue with sedge, but in my jasmine ground cover. I sprayed a small section with sledgehammer as an experiment about a week ago. So far, the jasmine is fine. Maybe try a small area?

Now is BEST time to spray nutsedge with Sedgehammer for long term control. It’s a perennial and is putting all “food” into underground nutlets for survival for next year. Herbicide taken up will be moved to those “nutlets” and they will be killed. Won’t be a one year fix but keep at it a couple years. Population will decrease over time. Perfect window is Sept 15 thru October.

Oof good to know. Planning to throw down some Barricade within the next day or two, will mix up some Sedgehammer and hit the nutsedge too.
