My stihl weedeater is compatible with the 250 mm 3 blade brush knife and I’m considering buying to cut down some cattails and other brush in my ditch. The string just isn’t working. Anyone tried this and is it worth the $40, plus the conversion kit needed for a metal blade?

So if your trimmer is properly setup and compatible then you should have no problem as long as you don't go at it like a lunatic. I personally don't like using these things, rather borrow or rent a brush mower first.

I've used something by the Gator brand, that replaces the string head with a different head that has replaceable blades on it.

I just bought this bad boy to knock out about 2000 ft of pond bank. I might see about adding some wheels to it if it is heavy or not balanced well... until I figure out something with a tractor

I have an Echo SRM-410. Got it when I bought my land in '21. I've completely worn out one blade (not like the one you have posted) and replaced it with same. I've cut sweet gum up to 2" in diameter with it. It's been a beast working in areas that I can't get my tractor like around my lake. I've used it to cut a lot of buckbrush that grows in my lake as well.

It was pretty expensive, but I've gotten 100% of the value out of it.

I do have a blade for it like the one you posted but that blade is designed for grass only. I'm cutting a lot of stuff that it won't work for me so it's sitting on a rack outside. I've never used it.

Cutting ain’t bad, it’s pulling all the crap you cut to where you’re going to leave it or burn it that sucks.
I hate that part.
