I think they relaxed specs or approved emergency formulation changes without testing due to supply chain issues

Im not saying that you will have problems by changing oil at 10k intervals. im just saying statistically speaking that you are less likely to have oil related issues changing every 5k miles vs 10k miles..... especially with modern turbo engines
I think it also depends on the vehicle. Saw a video of a newer LandRover with documented 10k OCI's and it looked like sludge hell when the valve cover was removed. Turbo, direct injection, hybrid powertrains...it's basically severe service for the oil all the time. My mother just got a brand new hybrid Camry, going to have to schedule her oil changes at the dealership for her as the Toyota app insists on 10k OCI's.

Just thought I’d update, walmart hit with their price increase a few days ago.
Ultra platinum went from 29.97 to 39.97
Restore and protect went from 29.97 to 35.97
Esp went from 27.97 to 31.97
Not sure on advanced auto or auto zone and etc
I just saw this the other day at WM. The only thing cheap was 5 quarts of Castrol Edge Extreme Prot. for $26 for a 5 quart jug so I grabbed that for my daughter's Camry. Even the Supertech is $25 for 5 quart jug. The Pennzoil which is what I've started using in my truck was almost $40 for 5 quart jug. I started changing my own oil recently since the dealer and local places are charging over 100 bucks to do a freaking oil change. But I guess with oil prices the way they are they gotta get something for the labor.
Edit to say I bet taking it in somewhere for an oil change will be pushing $150 now.

Yea I’m sure oil changes are gonna be about 20 bucks more now for your quick change places. Probably 40 bucks more at dealerships.
