we don’t either in tangi but I see them all the time in New Orleans. Yet another consequence of being a port city. Biologists think they arrived in wholesale nursery plant stock

and yes they are FAST, much faster than the green anoles

My garden is overrun with them in BR. Very quick.

I need a non-"firearm" weapon to carry around the yard that can throw some bird shot

Still seeing lots of anoles too, including some younguns.

get one of those salt guns. They work pretty well but you gotta be quick

They have almost wiped out the native green anoles in the New Orleans area. I see 10 of the Florida ones to one of the green ones.

yes they are a catastrophe for the native anoles. They force the natives up higher into the trees where they can’t breed

They are very aggressive and very cannabalistic. I like to read and drink wine outside in the evenings and I have a few small ones that hang around my feet so the big ones don't get close. They crawl on my feet.

I have all kind of lizards and frogs hanging out around my house. They don’t really bother me. The toads come sit up by me at night on the back porch. I like to turn the porch light on and watch them hunt. Man they can knock a dent in the bugs.

turn off outside lights at night

Lights attract bugs

Bugs attract geckos

We had a gecko crawl over and set off our ring doorbell. Could only see the tail. It looked like Godzilla climbing up the house.

They don't bother me a bit; and shouldn't bother you either.

I’ve never had to hire an exterminator for roaches when we have had a healthy population of geckos. If you leave outside lights on at night or bug zappers you might want to go dark. Unless you live in BTR or NOLA.
