Another weed ID please!

This junk popped up in clumps about 4-6 weeks ago. Winter weed?
Bulb??
I did not do pre emergent in the back yard due to having a young stand of Bermuda and in an effort to grow rye.
It’s difficult to pull because it just breaks off at ground level.

I can't comment on weed ID, but I've heard NOT to ever do rye grass with Bermuda, and especially young Bermuda. I'll let ronk / Craw chime in on that too because I would like to confirm if there's any validity to that.

This is certainly true, but I did not overseed.
half the lawn was bermuda and weeds and the other (shadier) half was bare dirt, weeds, and a little St. Aug.
So I only seeded about 30% of the backyard. There's just one place where the rye and the bermuda touch.

Doveweed?

I sent the photos to Dr. Ron Strahan with the LSU AgCenter, and though he’s not totally sure based on the photos, not enough distinguishing characteristics, he’s leaning towards Goosegrass based primarily on the last photo, probably the white basal stem. If you have any that might have seedheads post a photo of it.
I’ve had goosegrass in my lawn in years past, pre-emergent does an excellent job in controlling it, but it didn’t look quite like yours, mine growing more prostrate, but it does have characteristic white stems at the soil line. Favors compacted soils.

I really appreciate you doing that, but I'm totally with you in the sense that all of my goosegrass is totally prostrate and pulls much differently than whatever is pictured.
My goosegrass is strong and can take a hard yank and still come up roots and all.
The pictured weed is not like that at all.

It almost has a Johnson grass looking blade but that isn't it. I'm not going to go against Dr Strahan but I would not have guessed goosegrass.

This is goose grass (800% sure):
And this is a smaller clump of goose grass next to the original weed posted:

Here’s perhaps a better example for distinguishing between the two.

That’s only on the west coast.

Yeah, those other photos are definitely goosegrass - so the weed you’re asking about is something else. Dr. Strahan’s predecessor Dr. Dearl Sanders taught me how to ID goosegrass. Use of Dimension and Prodiamine pretty much eliminated it from my lawn.

It is goosegrass. Seedhead gives it away. Still does not look like it.

That’s the picture of the two weeds on top the garbage can.

More of the unknown:
It doesn’t have that knotted root in the middle that holds it all together (like goose grass).
It appears to till from singular white tubes.

Let the unknown weed go to seed and let’s try to id it

I think that might be some type of clumping fescue, I have some crap like that in parts of my yard
