A/C Patio with Motorized Screens

Anyone have the motorized screens for your patio? If so, how hot does it get with them down during the summer, even with fans? Friend of mine says there’s no airflow and it’s hot as balls even with a fan on. He’s adding a split unit.
We are building a new camp and putting the motorized screens. The patio is 600 square feet. Thinking of putting a 3 ton split unit for this reason.
What’s y’all’s opinion? Is it overkill to try and cool it down a little? TIA

Depends on which side the patio is facing. last 2 screen jobs faced west. One client leaves them down 24/7, the other one has them programmed to go down at 1pm. They both have screen doors in addition to the motorized screens. 10 degree difference from outside air. This past summer was a scorcher and the latter added a mister to his gutters.
Tough for me to get behind conditioning outdoor space. Too many hot spots.

The parentals have motorized screens on their back porch, back of the house faces north. I put in a cassette style mini split in the middle of the porch. In august you can sit out there with the mini split and screens down and it is very comfotable.
Would be warm with just fans.

Just curious, how much are you paying for them?

we just ordered our motorized screens with an access door. I'm curious to see how well the heat stays in during winter and how well it stays cool in the heat of summer. my sales guy said to use my porta cool and it will help a lot better than an ac.
we paid around 9k for the guy asking. that's three bays 10x 12 or so. one bay stops on my outdoor kitchen counter so it doesn't go to ground. and we added a door for access to pool instead of having raise shade.

I have a motorized screen on my back patio. Faces south but catches a little sun. It’s hot during the summer. Great fall, winter, spring. Keeps heat in good with fireplace.
I’m probably going to add a multi zone mini split next year and dump a cassette in there.
