So all in cost for replacement $1900 plus 2 days of labor. So just a touch cheaper than 7300.

I just paid a fella named Humberto $1500 to replace one on one of my rentals. A month later he did another for me for $1400.

thats outrageous. Your about ~2500 in material buying good equipment from a supply house.
get a helper for extra muscle to handle the water heaters, connections are diy
