Does anyone have recommendations on grow lights? The durolux that I got a few years ago is discontinued.

I ordered this one around the new year and I've been pleased. Seeds are sprouting and not starving for light.

I have a few bushes that were gotten by the freeze. I think i want to put some blueberry bushes in their place. I have read about all the cross pollinating and stuff. But they also require acid soil. Id like to just dig a big enough hole and place acidic soil in there as well as adding sulpher to keep it acidic.

What should i fill teh while with? Is there hi acid bags of soil? Ask the garden center? i have seen people watering soil with vinegar on YouTube. lol.

I’m not sure if there’s a bagged soil mix that’s already acidic. LSU Ag recommends amending your soil with peat moss and pine bark. But I’d definitely recommend getting the soil tested first before you start adding anything. Aluminum sulfate is fast acting and will get your pH down quicker, but elemental sulfur will be longer lasting. I don’t know if I’d be watering my soil with vinegar.

yea i know aluminum sulfate is fast and the sulfur is more like 6 months for it to work. I was really not wanting to get the soil tested as is a few different locations. All garden bed. that thev been mulched with pine straw for years. So im guessing it would be slightly acidic as is.

The guy on youtube said it was 3 tbsp per gallon of water per plant to pull the ph down. probably doesnt last long either.

If you’re sure that the soil is at least slightly acidic the plants would be ok while you work on acidifying the soil more. They just won’t thrive until they reach the desired pH.

Peat hummus is naturally acidic. My soil is high ph crap clay and my 4 blueberry bushes looked bad for a couple of years, until I finally dug them up, planted them in big pots, and planted the pots in their places in the ground to isolate the soil. I used a mixture of peat hummus, peat moss, and regular potting mix. The peat humus compacts and the peat moss combats the compacting so it's a good balance, and makes the soil sturdy enough to handle the winds of Lent while still draining well. All 4 bushes now look beautiful and are loaded with buds currently.

Looks like I’ll have a decent warm trend in my neck of the woods for the next 10 days. I put my seedlings outside this morning to start easing them into the sunshine! I’ll have a pretty good south wind blowing the next couple of days and I hope they’re protected enough. But that should be the only concern.

I am up-potting my seedlings this week and starting the hardening up process also. Long range has a chance at some cool weather at the end of the month, but i dont think its freezing level.

Busy weekend ahead for me. Picking up lumber, compost, peat moss, and vermiculite today. Hoping to get my garden area framed, sand laid, weed fabric down, and boxes framed by lunch on Saturday. Depending on how I feel after that, I'll either fill the beds Saturday afternoon, or wait until Sunday morning.

Thankfully everything is drying out so I'll be able to use the SXS and the tractor .

What rate of miracle grow should I be applying to my seedlings, and how often?

I usually do 1/4 of the recommended rate. I start when they get a couple of sets of true leaves. While they are small I fertilize about every 10 days. When they start getting bigger I'll do it about once a week until plant out.

Mine have been outside for about 6 days from about 10 am till 3:30 pm. They have done just fine. Even the basil, cucumbers, and green beans.

Screw that. Just keep piling new soil and mulch on top and build it.

So should I go by for outdoor use rate of 1.5 tbsp per 1.5 gal water?

If so, just fill a 1 gal jug, add 1 tbsp and water with this?

I'm going to assume you are using the all purpose water soluble MG.

That would be the recommended rate. You'd want to do 1/4 of that. What you could do, since the small side of the scoop that comes with it is a half teaspoon, just do 2 small scoops per gallon. That would be 1/3 the recommended rate but should be just fine.
