just got some seeds for those - too late to start them?
It’s about 90-110 days to maturity. Check your average first frost date and see if you have enough time. Or you could just throw a few seeds down and take a chance. Seeds are cheap. That’s what I’d do.

installed a swing in the garden
okra and cukes looking good
watermelon not so much. The vines have pretty much given up and the melons are waterlogged. We will pick them all and hope for the best

I’ll just do my usual turnip and mustard green mix. May do some radishes jus5 for fun. It’ll cool down quicker here in W TN will plant in later Sept.

Neglected the garden for a couple months due to hurricane, vacation, August heat, and general dealings with a 1 year old. Finally got back out there today to find it overrun with sweet potato vines and crabgrass.
Started chipping away at managing that by pulling the first sweets that volunteered this spring. The rest I planted in June, so those are not ready yet. Got some diverse shapes and sizes, including some really nice ones and this pumpkin sized behemoth
No idea if it's edible but I'm gonna try.

I am in NW Arkansas, but these dates do help some. I will be pulling up my wife's tomato plants this week even though they are still producing. It is time to plant my turnip greens. I don't eat tomatoes, but I love turnip greens. I only have a 4' x 8' raised garden.

I must’ve missed one of the vine borer eggs on the butternut. Found some damage this morning. Luckily it’s on a small secondary vine with nothing on it. If it ends up dying off, no biggie. What makes the butternut somewhat resistant to the vine borers is that the vines are solid and not hollow like many other squash vines. I was able to easily get that sucker out and squish him.
This is the biggest butternut so far. It’s growing fast!
The cabbage is taking its sweet arse time growing. But I know from experience they start slow and then take off!
And here come the cucumbers. First pickings!
ETA: It feels amazing outside this morning!
Hopefully this hurricane doesn’t come mess everything up next week.

beautiful day the garden dojo is really really nice.
Something is in the cukes tons of green and blackish eggs on the leaves and the tops of the vines are droopy…also some of the fruits are full of worms. I’ll spray them with dawn tonite
planted collards, kale, daikon, leeks, collards, mustards, cabbage in the garden and tomatillos in seed pots.
here’s the melons we picked the big one I think is good we will see about the rest
I wish you guys could see all the fritillaries we have. That maypop vine did the trick…this morning we lost count in the 30’s. There’s a cloud of them in the zinnias every morning

everyone battening down the garden hatches today? I’m sure my tomato cages are going to go down nothing I can do about that
at least we got the melons out before all this rain. I think all I need to go get is oil for the generator and some beer

I’m going to say goodbye to my butternut and cucumbers just in case.
I finally have some success with butternut and then have to deal with this.
Oh well. Just hoping for the best.

Can I plant tomatoes right now?
Posted on 9/12/24 at 11:00 am to TDTOM
You could but you may not get much out of them before the first frost. I'd find the biggest transplants you can get your hands on and make sure its an "early" variety.

I'll take it

Yeah my garden is ok. I was fortunate! Just a couple of days ago the track was right over my house. Then it shifted waaaay east! Not good for a lot of my family in Lafourche parish. Luckily they all made it out just fine.

I pulled up my wife's tomato plants today to prep and plant some turnip greens. Being I will be leaving for two weeks I will rig up a sprinkler to keep them watered. The garden bed is a 4x8 raised bed.

not too much storm damage in the garden, knocked over my okra and all the tomatoes. Good news is the beds got a thorough soaking and my seeds are all sprouting
cucumbers look terrible I might just pull them and try again in the spring. They are infested with insects of every shape and size

Nice arrangement!
I need to pick my jalapeños. And I’ll probably pull the plants up after that. I have enough!
