I do have something making small holes in my beans and bell peppers right now.
We always used seven dust growing up...is that a big no-no now? I remember using the stuff without gloves and a mask too
what's a good insecticide nowadays?

If you look at the opening post I have quite a few options listed, as well as a link to info on each. It's mainly going to depend on the target pest.

Anybody--is the phosphorus content in Miracle Gro (diluted to 1/4 strength) enough to address P deficiency (purple leaves) in seedlings?
TIA

From what I've read, PHPs are champs in the heat of summer. Why not wait until you pull out tomatoes or something else that will stop producing in June?

Got the remaining flower and herb seedlings outside from the grow light and transplanted.

That’s what we did last year. We planted black eyes after digging up potatoes around Mother’s Day.

I had to heirloom tomato plants die in the freeze. They were a foot tall. Yesterday I noticed some very tiny growths forming on both of the bases of these to plants.
Look like green claws about 1/64 of an inch long poking out of the base of the main stem.
Will this grown into a tomato plant or is it just the bases putting out something other than new leaves and branches?

It couldn’t hurt. Purple leaves on seedlings are pretty common and usually it doesn’t affect the growth. It also usually clears up once transplanted.

It may or may not recover and turn into a good plant. I’ve snipped some mature plants all the way down to the base at the end of the season and they tried to put out new growth. You could leave it and wait and see what it does. Or if that garden space is valuable and you don’t want to chance it, replace it.

Waiting. More garden than plants.

I noticed the same thing. I replanted seedlings for all that I thought were dead the day of the freeze. I'm guessing the "dead" ones will do better since they already have a lot more roots. A few of my pepper plants that I thought were toast are doing the same thing.

my poor plants now are flooded. It's been dumping rain here since 7

Just replace it. That plant is going to fart around and waste space that could have made you some food.

So what would dig up planted corn and eat the seeds.
Coon, opossum, armadillo?

Squirrels.
Speaking of, it’s time to set out the squirrelinator again. I use corn as bait. Garden looks like a minefield right now. There must be a hundred little holes dug. Thankfully they didn’t damage anything. But I’m sure I’ll be pulling small oak trees out of my garden soon.

A few pics from the garden this afternoon. All of the tomato, pepper, and eggplant transplants are coming along nicely. Got some roma tomatoes already setting. Nothing on any other tomato plant yet, but the flowers are showing up. So it’s only a matter of time.
Cucumbers are coming up!
Blue Lake stringless beans coming up!
Purple hulls coming up!
Zucchini and yellow straightneck are still a little on the small side, but I have a couple sets of true leaves. I imagine with some longer daylight hours and warmer weather they’ll take off soon.
Still waiting on the edamame, watermelon, and butternut squash to come up. Any day now.
