I'm already prepping my fall garden. Gotta love S. Louisiana.

When are you going to plant fall tomatoes? I’m thinking I may plant within the next couple weeks. I cloned some a couple weeks ago and they’re already outgrowing their containers.

I’d like to know that as well. Never tried growing fall tomatoes. Figured I may give it a shot this year. I’m fixing to pull my remaining tomato plants.

Next weekend I am going to start my broccoli and cauliflower seed. I usually transplant them around the 2nd week in September.

I have some suckers that I saved and will probably transplant in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping to avoid buying new ones.

I planted tomatoes last year right before Labor Day. I think I’m going to shoot for August 1 this year.

Had a hornworm caterpillar destroy an entire hot pepper plant yesterday. I mean not one leaf left. I’m hoping the plant comes back

Curious as well. I saved some seeds from one of my better producing plants but feel like I should wait a little longer to start them. I pulled my plants last week and they were looking really rough.

Last fall I started seeds September first and I had toms at the beginning of November all the way through January

Yeah, mine are looking rough and I’m thinking of pulling them. They still have a bunch of tomatoes on them, but they’re kinda small and don’t seem to be getting any bigger.

I planted out my transplants right before Labor Day.

Do y’all prune your okra?

This is my first year growing okra, and I haven’t pruned a thing. They are doing well and are productive.

You don't have to prune the okra, just cut the pod and the leaf underneath it when you pick. You can plant them a few feet apart and top them, but I've never done that before.

The only things I still have are okra, habanero, ghost and bell peppers, some eggplant and the tail end of cucumbers.

Everything else has been removed and the area tilled to incorporate some of the old plants into the soil. I'd say about 3/4 of my garden is now idle.

I won't be planting anything until late August to early September, then finish things off for the fall/winter garden by mid October.

Too damn hot to plant anything right now.

Anyone ever have issues with tomato leaves getting purplish color? I put some bone meal out a few days ago but probably not near enough. Also put some fish fertilizer on them

That's usually a symptom of too much nitrogen, but if they still have leaves to turn purple then consider yourself lucky. The fish fertilizer probably gave them a spike, it doesn't take much and it will pass.
