Optimal ripening temp is mid 70’s. Too hot or too cold and the ripening process slows down significantly.

Don’t know what the temp has been like for you, but here it’s hotter than Satan’s arse crack.

Going to start pulling tomato plants today. My San Marzanos are still going strong though. I got some suckers soaking in water and will replant them in a few weeks.

Took this pic a couple of days ago.

Lots of tomatoes on them.
Only picked 5 though.
The ones closest are brandywine
2nd row is Cherokee purple

You can’t see but 3rd row is a brandywine and a German Johnson.

I got a similar one. It was on the catnip plant right by my garden and behind the outdoor fireplace.

First harvest of the summer garden. I'm in West Central Georgia. Was out of town for 2 weeks and my lazy kids didn't pick anything like I asked. Those big pale cucs are pickling cucs....LOL

That’s some nice looking eggplant! Making me hungry for some eggplant casserole.

Don't be so harsh on your kids....

Amazingly enough, I am getting a second crop off my Early Girl tomatoes. It's been much cooler in Dallas than normal so the garden is booming. Usually tomatoes are done at the end of May.

How freaking hard is it for them to pick some stuff when their father asked? I'd dock their allowance for the cost of the stuff that is unusable because they let it sit there too long. Ridiculous.

Has anyone used Growveg.com to plan out a garden?

Pretty neat program with a free 7 day trial. You can create your garden by the row, month, type, however you want.

I'm curious if their spacing for the plants is somewhat accurate.

My Early Girls were my most productive plant this year. I cut it back on Saturday and will see if it survives. I saved a couple of suckers and have them soaking in water.

I'm about to pull a few of mine and want to save the suckers.

Do you leave them in water until roots sprout and then transfer back to garden? What size suckers are you soaking?

Yes. Once I see the roots at least an inch long I prefer to put them in a cup or flower pot with soil for at least another 2 weeks. And keep it moist.

Do any of yall freeze green beans?

I'm going to have a mess and don't want to deal with canning.

I do. Some say to blanch them first, but I never have.

Do you just throw them into ziploc bag?

Good deal, thanks. What other veggies do you seal and freeze?
