The good thing with the tags is that you can't see what is written between the [spoiler][/spoiler] unless you hover over it instead of just a warning. So if you're reading movie reviews or whatnot, you could continue scrolling and not risk seeing anything regarded as "spoiler material".
BTW, I saw Stevie Nicks in concert last night. NBD.

. On a thread related note, the spoiler tags can also be set up to where you have to click to see what is a "spoiler" as opposed to simply hovering over it. I like the click to see better.
