So, how about some ground rules for the Music Board...

Initial discussions have revealed a strict no-IM/Daily thread policy. Alright...got that out the way. Now, what else?
Obviously, we will need to curb the trolling and mocking of people who have different tastes in music.
If you link to a YouTube video, I would expect to have the Band and Song name in the link's title.
And I don't want to see threads with just the band's name in the subject field. Please be more explicit in what your thread is about.
Thoughts?
I hope to use the board to make playlists on Rhapsody.

I like the youtube rule. That would hopefully prevent any form of rick rolling.
I think posting an incorrect title for a youtube song should be a bannable offense on the music board.

Can we get a stickied thread to discuss all things Bon Jovi?

Yes, maybe, "bands that sound like Led Zeppelin"

Sticky'd Oldies and Classical Thread for music appreciation people like me!
Maybe just one sticky'd thread to the different type of genres.

Agree, because if I get tricked (again) into clicking on some crap like Rebecca Black's "Friday" and thus upping her video viewcount, I'm going to be pissed.

You might as well sticky a Beatles vs. Stones thread right off the bat

Because of how fluid music is in nature I vote for sticky use to be very rare and only used for an overall message for the board or resourse for the board
Everybody is going to want their own sticky for some ling discussion and i hate when there is a shite ton of stickys cluttering up a pages and sinking good threads to the second page
Good rules though

How about no sticky'd threads except for the usual message from an admin, or poll, or list, or....
Okay how one sticky'd thread with links to all the other relevant threads that others will ask to be sticky'd.

no mention of the supposedly biggest issue against the creation of a Music Board suggested by its opponents? then it must not be an issue.
one thing that I would not like to see on the Music Board are threads such as these: "Top 5 Bands from the 80's" and "Top 5 guitar solos of all time"
quote:I think more people use Pandora and Spotify.
Rhapsody.

No troll threads like Rebecca Black "Friday" on Fridays.
ETA: Im assuming this also means all concert threads/concert tickets are going to be allowed on the Music Board

Spotfy is so much better than rhapsody
You can build your own playlists as well as have "music rooms" and all kinds of cool features with it that could probably be incorportated with the board

Why not build a new link only for Youtube videos. You can then let the code insert the Link text from youtube? This would get rid of poorly labels links and also mislabeled links

I would limit the talk about torrents and things like that

I want this rule enforced with an iron fist. It will keep these threads from popping up:
quote:
BEST Song Evar!!!1!

I predict those vs. threads will get out of hand quickly.
