I'm on the bike 3-4 days a week and have a head unit but I've never tracked anything outside of distance and time.

Also would like to start running more, likely 1-2 days a week, to mix it up.

Basically I think all I want is heart rate to start dialing up any training for both bike and running, which would both link to Strava. Not worried about tracking distance or speed on the bike because of the head unit (wahoo).

Any suggestions?

I see the Coros Pace 3. Looks cool. Maybe a bit overkill for what I need though.

If you want a chest strap style, just get a Magene: LINK

Mine takes a licking and keeps on ticking. And it’s as accurate as any other device I use (Apple Watch, Wahoo Tickr).

I've had several Polar monitors. Currently have the Morpheus monitor as well. All of them connect via bluetooth and will pair with a watch or phone.

Polar chest strap is pretty standard device. Pairs via Bluetooth and more accurate than probably any watch. I have coros apex pro 2. Great watch but found HR monitor to be maybe 5-10% higher than polar. Either option is good enough for your needs

i guess you need to decide if you want a chest strap or just a watch with sensor.

Chest straps (at least historically) have been more accurate an read quicker. I havent researched how more modern watches compare though in a long time.

i have a polar watch with sensor and have been using it for 9+ years at this point. its hardy, simple, and accurate. My biggest complaint is the "lag time". it will take a few seconds to adjust its displayed reding as my heart rate fluctuates.

i bet newer models are better at this by now, but it works for me :)

Magene and others also make arm strap HR monitors. I can’t attest to them, but people who don’t like chest straps gravitate towards them.

Yea, that's basically where I'm at right now.

I'm already on the wahoo app and I'm not the biggest fan of chest straps so I'm between the Wahoo Tickr and the Coros Pace 3.
