I have been working out for about 6 months now, and really believe I'll stick with it. I have been using running shoes, and was thinking about getting some trainers. I don't get the drop thing and how to decide what amount is best for me. We don't run every workout, and I may even go a week without running. My plan would be to bring my Mizunos if I see a heavy running day. So, 0, 4, 8?

Don't worry about the drop. Get some Nike Metcons

if you are running 5k or less, drop probably won't make a huge difference. Longer distances, the low drop shoes are a lot harder on your calves. Some peole can handle 0 drop for marathons and longer. Some, like me can't without a lot of mileage buildup start in small and taking it very slow. Otherwise, it's a personal preference. I like running in lower drop, but it doesn't agree with my Achilles all the time.

After way too many hour looking at way too many models and reviews, I ordered some Inov-8 F-Lite 235s.

Love Inov8, have 4 pairs. I squat and DL in Vans, though.

Inov8 are great. On my third pair but unfortunately they don’t make the ones I have anymore. Good all around trainers with little drop and I can tolerate short runs in them. I do a lot of plyo and hiit and they have been great for that. They run true to size for me. I’ve gotten all of them online either through Zappos or amazon.

I had to order. The sizes can be different from one model to the next. Their site tells you width which is helpful to me because I can get away with 1/2 size smaller if the shoe is wide. Best thing is to find YouTube vids on the models you are interested in. The reviewers generally compare sizes with other shoes you may know well.

First workout in these today. Love them. Yeah, they could fit a little better, but such a better experience than in my Mizunos.

What does that improve for you?

Made them a little less narrow and more stable. I like feeling the ground a bit more.

I have pretty flat feet and many insoles just bother me
