Inflammation is really, really bad for your body and too much can cause lots of illnesses, pain, even death. There are foods/diets/natural supplements that can help,

Google search for Anti Inflammatory Diet

Mucus. Some believe that inflammation is the root cause of most or all disease.

im also curious about this. i cannot interpret the literature i find on topics such as this very well. I experimented with a mostly carnivore diet for appx 2 years with excellent results physically, except for lack of energy during crossfit workouts. i found out recently that someone i know's son is showing symptons of bipolar syndrome and i emailed them some literature on the carnivore diet and potential mental health benefits. would like to hear other's opinion on topic of inflammation, causes, negative effects, etc. thanks for starting this

It depends on who you're talking about, because different quacks have different meanings.

There are specific markers for inflammation that can be tested for. This doesn't tell anyone where the inflammation is explicitly, so some "experts" have really latched onto the vague term to sell their programs. That's not to say inflammation of specific body parts isn't real.

Most commonly, chronic inflammation refers to your gut, mostly your large intestine, where the majority of your digestive bacteria live. If your digestive health is poor, the cellular walls of your gut lining can worn be down, commonly known as "leaky gut". Most "experts" of chronic inflammation will sell you things like probiotics to fix leaky gut, though the science on it is still young and not very clear.

Thanks, so if I eat something, and then I feel terribly then that’s inflammation?

I hear that canola, soybean, sunflower oils are the leading culprit. Thoughts?

Not necessarily. How do you feel? I know you said terribly, but what specific symptoms do you have?

Has there been any studies of these “anti-inflammatory diets” to see if they actually lower inflammatory markers like ESR or CRP? Or is inflammation the new buzzword like “toxins caked on the sides of your colon” that go away with a “juice cleanse”

My question is not really specific to me. I just wanted to know what people mean by "inflammation" after listening to Paul Saladino on Joe Rogan.

It seems like this is a form of inflammation.
Thread on gout

I've heard that diet fixes the problem, but someone in that thread says that gout comes from wearing the wrong shoes.

Well that's part of the problem, people push their agendas and beliefs using a vague term like inflammation, but without specificity on what's inflamed it's mostly just nonsense.

For example, my quadricep tendon is inflamed because of my squat form so I have tendonitis, which is inflammation of a tendon. If someone has poor digestive health, they may have inflammation in their intestines. This is usually accompanied with bloating, gas, either constipation or diarrhea, or even pain. The fringes of the health community have begun to peddle this as explaining any kind of inflammation. They may be right, they may be wrong. There's not a ton of data out on it.
