Upcoming surgery, 6 week recovery, steps for prep?

Pretty disappointed I have to get my arm worked and slow the progress I have been making, but it has to be done.
What are some steps that I can take outside of what's listed below to minimize muscle loss:
1. Continued to hit 200g protein during recovery duration
2. BPC 157 to try to accelerate post surgery recovery
3. Back to walking/running as soon as possible to keep activity levels reasonably high
4. Lift heavy and often leading up
Mainly concerned about muscle / strength loss over the time period and the time it will take to get back to net zero from surgery day. 45+ male.

Look into Blood Flow Restriction.
A ton of research on it. It helps keep muscle mass post surgical during your recovery process. One great thing about it is that the occlusion range is very wide for it to show benefits. I believe it's between 40-80%. So there is a wide range to work with. If you are going to PT after your surgery, talk to your PT about it. They should know.
Good luck with your surgery and recovery.
ETA: Sorry you said prep and I gave you recovery. BFR work will still be good for Prehab.

I convinced my dad to do a Tb-500/BPC-157 protocol after his knee surgery and it worked pretty well for him

Thank you! I was hoping I’d get at least anteceotal feedback.
Not looking forward to the break, but my back is.

This isn't muscle prep, but for goodness sakes get some cheap button up shirts for after the surgery, it sucks leaking some fluid or trying to pull a shirt over your head the first couple of days.
