Tracking Calories/Carbs for weight loss

I’ll be finishing Whole 30 Tuesday and would like to maintain some kind of goal in regards to diet. What should I shoot for if I’m going to track my intake on MFP everyday?

Download this app. It’s free and pretty good. You can track calories, fat, carbs, proteins, liquids, etc

Already have it. That’s what I plan to use, just wasn’t sure what goals I should shoot for.
ETA: I see now where I can track macros but the subscription is required. My guess is by subscribing you’d have access to way more than just tracking, no?

Have you used it yet? There’s a feature where you can put in your stats and your goal (whether it be weight or BF % or whatever) you can choose to gain or lose weight and it creates a plan based on that.
If you go in the “diary” tab and scroll down to nutrition, it’ll give you a breakdown of where you’re at on the day and what you need to eat more/less of to be on track for your goal. It’s a really good app. I used to use it a lot but I stopped tracking. Need to get back to it.

Probably some extra toys and BS if you subscribe but you should have to. Just use the nutrition feature. It’s all free

No I haven’t used it yet. I’ve seen it mentioned on here so I downloaded it recently. I’ll have to play around with it to see what’s its about. Didn’t realize it would lay out a plan for me. Thanks muchacho.

What are your goals? If it's too lose more weight loss start at this
Calories-12x Bw
Protein-40%
Carbs-20%
Fat-40%
This is to start since you just came off whole 30. If you like carbs more than fat you can add 5% to carbs weekly while taking that away from fat.

777 do you know the science behind this?:
A couple of weeks ago Mark at Avatar posted something that said that if you're not keto, eating more than 40% of your daily calories as fat can hinder athletic performance and general energy. Have you heard that before? I asked for research and he just said "katie can tell you about it with studies" and I never heard anything more. I can see where that'd potentially be true, but I really wanted to read up on it. I forgot about it since then, though

My MFP username is hulkklogan, feel free to add me. I had a huuuge streak for a while but blew it at the beginning of this year

Feel free to add Paedin337 if you want friends on the app to stay motivated with

Don't know about hindering performance but fat is by far the easiest if the macros to store as body fat especially when in the presence of increases insulin.
I normally say someone should focus calories first, protein second. From there it's v up but to them. But honestly if not going keto your best results are going to be from doing the following
Cycle calories to match energy needed for training
Cycle carbs to match daily energy output in testing. Fat cycles opposite carbs.
Protein always stays high
Some form of IF
On training days, carbs come 80% in peri-workout window. On non training days, carbs only in first meal if having carbs at all
Or
If not eating IF, use carb cutoff of noon.
So essentially leangains lol

I’m now about 4 months deep into lifting 3-4 times a week to just gain some strength and tone, but mostly just for exercise. Knees are shot so I can’t run, I have a rower that I use for cardio. I’m down to 214 and would like to shed a bit more. Mostly just want to be healthier.
12xBW seems like a lot, no?

I assume he's cutting. If maintenance or bulking then protein intake can be reduced a bit.

That's not that much, notice he said kilograms. So 200 lbs man would be at 180g

2500 is not an really low as a starting point for fat loss.
Use this and see what your tdee is and then subtract 20%.

Another way to think about it is 1.2g/lb of lbm.

There is a plugin you can get on Google Chrome that lets you set your exact grams in your Macros. It is free and works great. I use Avatar nutrition to get my Macros and then plug them into Myfitness pal. It has worked awesome for both me and my wife.
