I’m updating my home gym. I just have bands, dumbbells, pull up bar, etc. on days I can’t get to gym or hv limited time. I’m always intrigued by the total gym machine- especially after the commercials. I guess hey do a good job marketing- if purchased I would prefer a used model

It’s great for physical therapy for non weight bearing patients.

Get a rogue rack and Olympic bar. That’s all you’ll need.

Waste of money, get you a set of rings and get parallettes. Download the bodyweight fitness app, it has the Reddit recommended routine and is a great routine. After you can do that routine, buy the book overcoming gravity and start doing the progressions.

If you want more than that, get a rack, bar, and bench.

well you put them into the studs. or you can hang them from pullup bar or tree or something. why would you bee sketched hanging them from the ceiling?

you can always do like i did in my garage, run a 2x12 across 6 or so studs and hang it in the 2x4.

Like most fitness machines, it can be great if you use it. You can get them on eBay refurb cheap and they don't take much space. You can hit just about every upper body muscle group with it. Lower body, not so much.

Before I joined a gym, I used one 4-5 days a week and it was certainly better than nothing.

I downloaded that app and it wants me to do super basic stuff. How can I change it?

If you look down on bottom right if it has a graph looking button you can click it and choose the progression. Only the exercises not the warm up have progressions.

Also only goes up to level 3 of progressions. If you want to go higher than that, you can move to the ring version of the exercises, incline versions and weighted versions.

If you want more than that, you can download the overcoming gravity charts from the overcoming gravity Reddit. Or you can look through here and here and pick a type of program you want.

If you are looking for hypertrophy then do the recommended routine weighted on the rings getting progressively heavier. If you want general fitness just do the recommended routine on the rings. If you want to do more advanced moves, pick a gymnastics program or follow the programming in overcoming gravity.

Some other good resources for ring training is antranik also Dominic sky and calisthenic movement on YouTube are great, of course I also have the awesome programs I linked above
