Time get back on the horse... Running tips?

Pretty overweight guy here that is starting to get back on the grind. Looking to shed weight as quickly as possible. I am not planning to do much (if any) weightlifting, mostly cardio by the way of running. Ive never enjoyed running but if i can grin & bear for a while, ill get over that.
Any running tips to make more bearable? Thanks for any help guys

Get a decent pair of running shoes.. visit a specialty store
Start slow, warm up for a few minutes, run for as long as you can, walk until you catch your breath, then run some more. Set your goals as something achievable.
When I started, it was run a mile non-stop, I did the run walk thing until I could go a mile. Once I hit the mile, I up'd it to 2 miles, then continued from there.
Lost 40 pounds, ran 2 Half Marathons, then moved my "addiction" to weight lifting. Been hitting the gym pretty hard for a year now.

Depends on how overweight. The extra weight is bad for your joints to try running. I would suggest some other type of cardio with a good nutrition plan until you knock some off. Then, music and the ability to get your mind on anything other than running is the only thing I've found to make running better

If you're running to lose weight then steady state cardio is almost a waste of time.
I know you said you didn't want to lift, but the benefits of lifting vs cardio aren't even comparable.

The most proven way to do this is to eat less daily. You need to go on a calorie deficient diet for an extended period of time and it will drop fast. Shoot for 1500 calories or less a day.

Yap, its 2017, running is out. Save your joints if your really heavy, too
Diet will be most important. Follow that with some walking and weightlifting

This just isn't true. You can argue that it's hard to get to 10% BF on running. You can argue from a body image standpoint, you can get better results lifting. But the fact is, you can burn a shite ton of calories with cardio. It takes work. You cant just run 2 miles a day. But you can definitely lose weight. I lost 25 lbs in about 3 months last year with no weights. Worked out for a year before that without much fat loss. Same diet. Just enjoyed riding my bike, swimming, and running more. Did it a lot and burned a crap ton of calories.

A. Good shoes. Go to LRC and get some.
B. Don't worry about distance. Go for time. And start off slow. Jog 3 street lights, walk one. Whatever you can do do it. And then do more the next time.
C. The whole joints argument is bullshite. I was 300lbs when I started running. Dropped 60lbs in 3 months. Still running 15 yrs later.

You can certainly injure yourself, but it's harder than people think. I'm icing my calf/achilles now and have been going to therapy the last few weeks. My cardio was there after taking a few weeks off of running. So I figured a 6 mile run wouldn't hurt in the first week. Run didn't hurt, but the inflammation in my achilles that's been around for 2 months sucks. Don't be afraid to take it slow even when you know you can do more.
Running injuries, or a t least the ones I've had, don't really hurt all that bad. Just enough to stop you from doing what you want to do. So it's easy to blow then off as an ache that's nothing.

So start slow. Run as far as you can at a comfortable pace. When you need to stop, stop then walk a couple of miles. Each time you run try to stretch out the distance before you have to stop and walk.
For me it took me a week before I could get a whole mile without stopping. Thought it would kill me
After a month I was up to 2 miles, after 3 months I could run 5 miles without stopping
Now 10 isn't a problem
Dont run every day. Start out every third day then work your way to every other day taking 2 days off once a week

Everyone is different
Im early 30s with grade 3 chrondomalacia and myxoid degeneration in both knees, and baker's cyst in 1. Caused by pounding the pavement per my ortho. Im extremely limited by what I can do now, it sucks.
Unless you really like running, there is just so much more you can do that's just as effective and some.

Old man at work won The Biggest Loser for Northeast Louisiana last year. He dropped 60 pounds in 56 days. I asked him what he did. He said he went to Planet Fitness every day, put the treadmill on the max incline, and walked for an hour at 3.5 to start and got to 4.2 at the end of the 2 months. He ate 1100 calories a day. He's like 55-60 years old.

Oh it's terrible, but just saying all he did was steady state cardio for exercise.
