Thoughts on Tim Ferris' Slow Carb Diet

Read his book recently, the "4 hour body."
Very interesting stuff.
Giving th slow carb diet a try with just lean meat, a legume, and green each meal.
Curious about others' results in regards to losing body fat.
Combining his diet with lifting 3 days a week and HIIT 2 days a week.
So far, have lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks. Probably also to do with cutting dairy and bread as well. Have not lost any muscle mass during the process and strength with each major lift has increased.

What I think is a carb is 4 calories no matter if it's glycemic index. Any fat you lose is do to increased tdee( total calories burned) vs calories in. Eating lots of protein will help this slightly, real Keto will help it slightly less than that. Bottom line you are losing weight and maintaining muscle because you are burning more calories than you ingest while eating enough protein to preserve muscle.
What your doing is great for health but doesn't help in any way in burning fat. Water weight, yes but not fat. As far as fat loss goes your body doesn't know the difference between slow, fast or any carb.

When I lost 53 pounds the first 30 or so pounds lost were done doing slow carb.
It's great to lose weight when you are at a higher body fat %. But once you are at around 16% or below you need to switch to a lower fat plan and eliminate the cheat days to cut off the last portions of fat

you lost weight because you burned more than you took in not because of the speed the carb spikes insulin.

I have been a long time Keto guy, and just from looking at the GI diet type of stuff, it just seems over-complicating things to the extreme and will result in most people giving up.
Not even to mention if it really makes that much of a difference.

While true... I think that we can all agree that if you eat a slice of white bread and drink a coke for 250 calories, you will be much more likely to go back and eat something else shortly thereafter as that high and short insulin spike occurs vs eating some legumes and fish for the same 250 calories.
If you want to go slow carb as Ferris suggest, I suggest getting some canned lentils and figure out how you like to eat them.
I like these:

No doubt. Many have an addiction to sugar too that they should use no carbs to break also.
