quote:I kind of doubt they have 1.25 lb plates, but I'll check tomorrow.
I bought some and bring them with me
Found some on Amazon for 19.99 if needed.
Thanks.

We started this morning. It looked like this:
Bench
155 lbs 1x5, 1x5, 1x10 (did not fail on ten, but I read that we should not exceed 10 reps on third set).
Machine aided pull-ups (just not strong enough yet)
2x6, 1x6+
Front lat raises with DB
3x10
Squats
165 lbs 3x5
All good?
ETA: we did warmups for bench and squats by the book.

Looks good.
You can go past 10 on the last set if you can keep your form good enough. Upper body lifts almost everybody can do it. Squats not everyone, but some. Only on the Deadlift it is not really recommended, unless you are very competent.

Started Greyskull yesterday.
I'm damn sore from the squats and pretty tight in the chest. Should I still be doing pushups on the hour and God forbid, burpees?
Or, can I wait a couple of weeks while I get accustomed to working out again?

Good, once you are used to it, it's just gpp. But imo it keeps you ready for anything and it's easy way to stack volume.
Now when you move to one of the 531 anchor templates with the higher intensity and pushing for PRs, prolly better to back off some.

Now that StrengthVillain website is officially dead, does anyone have access to all the Villain Challenge posts compiled somewhere?
I’ve been trying to accumulate everything JP wrote for my own personal training library because the information is all surprisingly excellent and he has a humorous writing style. I’m afraid it’ll all disappear sooner rather than later given how inconsistent and shady he has been lately. He’s like Martin Berkhan in that, for one reason or another he just can’t get out of his own way...which allows other people to come in and gobble up his market share, in this case Mark Rippetoe and Jim Wendler IMO.

I could have sworn that dude just in the last year was saying how he’s completely revamped the program made it 1000% better and is going to produce a lot more new content that will blow everyone away.
Must have been called back to SOF...

He actually did, was in the process of creating a new website and has a couple books about 75% through but as usual with him....he flaked and didn't finish any of it. Still owes me money.
He is the same song and dance all the time. Come on Instagram and starting posting a ton of content on lifting. Get some interest in his private training and then leave again.
At least he still has the gym open now. For a long time it was just a private studio some had keys to.
He sucks as a business person, at least in his own life. Gives great advice and coaching though lol. He should prolly follow it.

I saw him post some weird interview with a friend of his, calling himself WHITE DEVIL and the other guy BLACK GOD. It was like 30 minutes long, but after 10 minutes and no discussion of lifting I turned it off.
Real weird guy who was a damn content machine 3 years ago, now I dunno if he's gone full blown ANTIFA or what his deal is. I'm not big on cults of personality (e.g. Mark Rippetoe) but standing behind your advice and doing right by people certainly can't hurt your brand. Makes me wonder if any/all of what he's said regarding training and self improvement is all bullshite.

Na opposite, go look at his Twitter. He is very conservative.
I know how wife left him and he had the kids now but he went pretty far off the deep end for a while.
He is in a better place now and atleast has the gym open and is into training again, but he b sucks at finishing things and keeping his word.

I'm about to lose my access to a barbell. I've been using a lot of rings so it won't be a big deal for my upper body, but whats my best bet to replace squats and deadlifts? I'll have a smith machine which I'll use for calf raises. I also have dumbbells/kettleballs up to 70 lbs, a weighted vest up to 60 lbs, and a stairmaster. I have a leg extension and curl machine but never been a big fan of them.

Superset kb squats and kb sldl after every set of upper body, similar to 531 krypteia.
Posted on 6/17/20 at 7:43 am to lsu777
I'm not sure what krypteia is. If im doing BBR which has about 5-6 upper body movements with anywhere from 3-5 sets each then im doing a set of KB squats after each set for my first 2-3 exercises and a set of SLDL after each set for my last 2-3 exercises?
Since BBR is 4 days a week that seems like a lot of reps per week for the lower body. Id probably stick to just 2 days a week for the lower body.

Krypteia is a 531 program/template
Then you can alternate, one day do KB squats in between sets. Next do sldl with a shrug at the top. Repeat days 3/4.
