Looking for advice on protein that isn't high in fat, sugar, and decent tasting. Also, would like recommendations for vit b and d, and how much I should take.
I'm 31 just started going back to the gym and getting in shape after being out of the military a few years. I currently have been going to the gym doing 30 minutes (min) cardio and working out muscle groups. I have also been going on walks/jogs with my son throughout the week as well. Not looking to get jacked, but products that will help with energy, health, and recovery. TIA

Protein will not help with any of those things, but true nutrition is a great place to start for high quality.
As far as your program, I would suggest getting on a proven program.
For energy and health and recovery I suggest you get on a proven diet plan that supports those goals. Similar to RP or leangains method or some other form of proven macro percentages.

Trutein In cinnabon
My Protein Everyone on here seems to like this. I'm on week 3 and I really like it. I got chocolate.
Trutein is my favorite because it's 3 different types and isn't proprietary. All i take is multivitamins, so I can't help ya there.

Appreciate the info. Can you elaborate a bit more? I know my diet is a problem, not that I eat shitty, I just dont eat during the morning or day. It's hard for me to get up and eat.
Gym I am doing 4x15 for each workout and usually about 4-6 lifts per group. I would be open to other recommendations - if anyone has any.

My protein is my favorite. I’ve tried just about everything GNC has to offer, I wouldn’t waste my money. I’ve tried Cinnamon Roll, Strawberry, and Chocolate mint. Cinnamon roll is my favorite, it tastes like a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch.
I would fix your diet though. If you eat right, you probably won’t need Protein. I only use it because my coach has me eating 250-275g a day, and its easier to make 1-2 shakes than eat more chicken or turkey.

For workout plan start here
Keep it simple to start, I personally suggest gslp. Lift heavy 3 days a week and do 10-15 min of hard conditioning. O. Off days, walk or do something outside with your kids, something fun.
For diet, you are fine not eating during the day, it's called intermittent fasting. We usually encourage it for those looking to lose body fat. But this includes only having coffee/water or zero calorie drinks during this time period.
I suggest you keeping as you are and start logging all of your foods in the MyFitnessPal app. Don't change anything really about how you eat for 3-4 weeks except priortize protein. Keep track of your weight weekly.
Do this for a couple weeks and then make a thread and we will give you advice on what type of macro ratios you should be eating (protein/carbs/fat) and what caloric level you should be at.
I believe just tracking your foods will be eye opening. Be honest with the tracking, if it goes in your mouth, weigh it and enter it.
Oh and the recommendations above on protein are good also, I really like truetin.

Thank you. Will read through that thread later on.
Sounds like a good plan. When doing this what body groups should I work on during those 3 days?
Yes I figured it would actually benefit me with how my diet is, just need to drink lots more water.
Just downloaded. Will keep the same, to me, grilled chicken is delicious and I will be focusing on that with healthier sides. This is where I believe a protein shake in the morning and after work out will help me better throughout the day as my workout is usually between 10-2.
Will do! I appreciate all your guys advice so far. Ready to be much healthier and in better shape.
Will look into it and have seen other threads that have it highly recommended. I will probably go back to a multivitamin, but was curious about vit B & D.
Again, thank you.

I use ON hydrowhey vanilla for protein. Hydrowhey has less flavors than ON's gold standard line but it's a better quality portein. Doesn't taste bad either. The only other "supplement" I take is a BCAAs when working out.

Just get a basic whole food multi vitamin. As far as what groups to hit when working out, I'll make it easy on you
What type of phone do you have?

Ok the jefit is prolly the best program to log.
For what you are wanting and being newer to this stuff I suggest just using kinobody warrior shredding program, if you decide you want to lift more for strength on the big lifts you can switch over to greyskull after a while, but this is an easy program to follow. LINK
RPT explained
Should be a nice and easy program to follow. Log in that app or log in a book. Key is getting stronger across the board over time, eating in a small caloric deficit and increasing how much you love around to strip the fat.

The programs linked will lay out what you should do on those 3 days.
Add in a solid program, the diet reccs for 777 are dead on. Once you really know your baseline caloric intake, you can begin to adjust it to fit your goals.
On vitamins, D isn't really necessary unless you don't get much sun. If you don't get sun, just a simple D supp will work. Most people are ok on B through diet.
A multi can't hurt and is dirt cheap, so if you're worried about deficiency, you can do it. Most people don't need it.
