Anyone tried and had success with SARMs with this style of training? I know they’re banned by official CrossFit hq but I’m so far past being able to compete that it doesn’t matter. Just going for personal achievement at this point.

As I’m getting older, I’m just not recovering from the intensity of my workouts the way I used to. After a week of CrossFit style training, I’m usually down for 2-3 days before my body feels ready to take on another week.

I take creatine, get plenty of rest, eat plenty, bcaas, joint mobility exercises, etc but just having trouble recovering.

I'm approaching 52, and I am beginning to question my plan of 4 X week. I just feel beat up all the damn time.

You will want to use GW then. LINK Keep the dose to about 20mg tops.

Start scaling the volume and be more pro active with recovery

Consistent sleep, hydration and diet are the holy trinity of recovery.

Adding to that, mobility and active recovery are two more great tools. Then, you get into specific stuff like heat/cold, electrostim, etc.

If you just hit sleep/hydration/diet and do some targeted mobility and take a 10-20 min walk on an off day, that's 90-95% of the way.

If you feel beat up, I'd fix this before you worry about anything else.

For two years I went to crossfit 5-6x per week and added in a lifting session on Sat morning. I was pretty tore up most of the time. I had a couple years at 3-4 times a week and a bad stretch of 2-3.

I put on 20 lbs and got terribly bad at the workouts.

Before Christmas I went back to 4x to 5x per week. WODS only. I have dedicated one workout to active recovery. It has made a world of difference. Also, I have added some cool down work when something I did that day will be particularly bad.

I think active recovery sessions are the only way to go when you reach your 40s. Getting away from them made me miserable. A 5 minute cool down on the bike can take quad and glut soreness from a 8 on a scale of 1-10 to a 2. It is amazing.

Unless you're training for some kind of competition why are you pushing yourself so hard? If you're doing anything at all you're better than 90% of the population. Crossfit hype notwithstanding, this stuff isn't supposed to be a sufferfest.

I don't really know that I am really. I finish last or near last in most wods. I take lots of breaks, and don't always RX.

I feel terrible if I miss. That's how much I have grown to like going there. I think I am going to agree to never go 5 in a row anymore. Should be easy enough for me to figure out one of the weekdays to skip.

Selective androgen receptor modulators. Think mild oral steroids without being hard on the liver. Different ones do different things. And some that are called sarms really aren't. Some help with endurance like crazy, some help build muscle and strength, some stimulate appetite and hgh production like an injectable would.

Are they legal and safe to use?

Legal, yes for you to buy.

Safe to use....well that is a complicated question. All but gw and mk677 cause shutdown but those two are not true sarms. So you would have to do a post cycle recovery similar to a steroid cycle. One sarm can cause issues with he eyes while on.

Gw at superficial doses was shown to cause cancer in rats. No real concern at low doses. It helps with endurance, fat loss, Improves cholesterol.

Mk677 in short makes you produce much more growth hormone than other wise possible. Side effects include lots of hunger, water weight and extreme fatigue.

So safe is realitive.

What about MK-8266?

That’s the one I’m looking at.
