For years I was getting up multiple times a night to urinate and it was greatly affecting my sleep. For the past few months I was waking up around 3 am and not being able to fall back asleep and it was affecting my job, workouts, etc. I tried melatonin, gummies and OTC sleep aids and nothing seemed to work. I researched online and watched tons of YouTube vids and determined my cortisol levels were sky high. I started going to bed at the same time every night, quit caffeine later in the day, no phone or TV in bed and went for walks at sunrise to adjust my circadian rhythm and what seems to have helped really helped was taking magnesium glycinate and acetaminophen (to relieve bladder pressure/reduce inflammation) and it has worked wonders. Since taking about three weeks ago I'm getting up once a night or not at all and getting seven hours of sleep at night where before I was getting 4-5. I don't know the exact science behind it but it has been working wonders. Your mileage may vary but it's worth giving it a try.

I'm taking one each of these two every night an our before bed (both purchased at Costco):

High cortisol is a real thing. Magnesium has shown real benefits too. I’d be careful on long term use of acetaminophen however, that can be hard on the liver.

I went to urologist for the first time the other day, mid 40’s. Same issues, also weaker stream than when younger. Got the ol’ prostate checked. It was normal. Doctor said hold off on the prescription meds, other than daily 5mg cialis—which has other, and even better, benefits. ChatGPT gave me a whole daily supplement regimen, including magnesium, but haven’t been great at following.
