There are some pro endurance athletes who end up prediabetic (and I assume diabetic until they reverse course) due to all the glucose energy supplements. I think that's very rare given what they burn off, avoiding insulin resistance. But slow down at all and no bueno.

You are getting good advice on this thread to avoid seed oils, PUFAs.
Can't stress this enough - especially as you get older. And it takes a long time for the sludge to leave your body if you've been pumping it full of soybean oil etc. for your whole life. But never too late to start.

PUFAs

Major exception is Omega 3 from fish and other seafood. Eta: or other animal products like grass-fed beef (small% of its fat) and omega-3 rich eggs.

Omega 3 from plants isn't bioavailable.

When you're eating PUFA, the key is avoiding the crazy-high omega 6 stuff and in doing that you also avoid the most processed/oxidized oils.

Yeah there's nothing even remotely controversial or assailable about what I said there.

Omega 3 and Omega 6 are both obviously PUFAs. Omega 6 consumption that's out of whack with Omega 3 consumption has been proven inflammatory in a harmful way.

Omega 3 from things like flax is nowhere near as bioavailable to humans as is omega 3 from animals. Salmon fat is a great source. And chickens convert plant omega 3 into bioavailable Omega 3 in their eggs.

Soybean and canola oil are sky-high in PUFA and within that PUFA are overwhelmingly Omega 6. And they are also highly processed and have been pretty well demonstrated to be highly inflammatory and linked to CVD.

Finally, while grass-fed beef has a lot more omega 3 than grain fed, the % of PUFA (which again includes all the omegas) in its fat composition regardless of feed and finish is low compared to MUFA and SFA.

I didn't say anything about macros or overall diet. Just pointed to some facts about oils and fats.

People are dumb.

Eta: people who downvote in Health and Fitness are also low-T pillow-biting bottom-muffins.
