Possible patellar tendon injury?

So I have a bit of pain, nothing that I can’t manage and I only really feel it when I squat or put direct forward pressure, so a squat where my knees go forward instead of out to the side at all. I’m assuming I injured it with improper form at some point but it came on sort of gradually. Hurts most if I push where the tendon attaches to the tibia. How can I avoid further injuring it without stopping leg workouts. I have 3 snowboarding trips this season and I can’t abandon legs if I can help it. But obviously don’t want to push it to where I can’t even snowboard. Advice?

More than likely tendinitis. 2 Advil and 1 Tylenol 3 times a day x 3 days, then 2 times a day for 3 days. Use some ice/heat therapy. Give it a week of rest. See how you feel.

Well, you already said that it’s created by how your knee tracks during a squat. Fix that and it may solve the issue. Until it’s rectified, do your exercises outside of the degree of pain. So, squat to the range of motion with your best form where it doesn’t hurt. Does it only hurt when you squat, or does it hurt all the time? If it hurts all the time, then do what the above poster said and give it rest. A few days off from squatting won’t hinder you.

No it only hurts when my knees go straight forward when bending and if I push on that spot. I have zero pain walking, sleeping, standing, etc. Like I said, it’s very mild, but I don’t want to make it worse.

I started jogging in May for the first time in a decade. First 2 jogs I had no problem other than the expected shortness of breath. I spaced them out I think 5 to 7 days each. After the 3rd jog I could hardly walk the next morning. My patellars were screaming. They stayed tender to the touch for probably 2-3 weeks. The 1st week I was moving around like an 80 year old man (I'm in my 30s).
I bought running shoes and patellar braces, and didn't jog for over a month essentially waiting 2 weeks after the pain was gone before trying again. Now I jog every 3 to 4 days day with no issues. My son just got rid of his training wheels so we go on jog/bike rides together. It's been great.
Bottom line, rest them until you feel healthy again.
