Anyone does Pilates?
Offered at my gym. Signed up. How bad will I hurt after doing this?
Doing this as a change up from HIIT training.

Depends on the level. Is it a beginner, intermediate or advanced? Beginner will be like a good stretch, along with some basic core work. Google Basi Pilates videos on You Tube and watch some videos if you want to get an idea. It's an awesome workout if the instructor is good!

My wife does it. It can be as easy or hard as you want it to be.

Good core workout. I need to throw Pilates and Yoga in every few weeks to mix it up. Really helps with overall strength and flexibility.

I tried a few Pilates classes when my gym added them last winter. My core and back felt it the next day, but honestly, it wasn’t nearly as rough as a tough HIIT session. What surprised me was how much it helped my posture and flexibility after just a couple weeks. It’s very different from HIIT, more control and mind-body focus than all-out exhaustion.
If you end up liking the classes, you might even wonder how much do club pilates instructors make . I heard it’s not bad, especially once you get certified and build up regulars.

Certified instructor here, been teaching Pilates both privately and in large group reformer-based classes for several years now. Some things to consider:
Pilates, when taught well, primarily builds supportive muscle around the spine to maintain healthy movement and build a strong mind and body connection. Pilates used to mean a very specific method that was taught by Joseph Pilates and refined by his students, but in 2026 with the massive popularity of the method it’s like “yoga”, it can mean almost anything. If you're inflexible, mat classes will be the hardest, reformer is the safest way to start as it can accommodate just about any body. If you have injuries or other medical issues I would definitely start with one on one training before trying any group class. Also, it’s not a cure all. I’d recommend you add some strength training and cardio to compliment. Pilates is not high intensity. Hope this helps, it’s a great method that addresses much more than getting a “good workout.”
PS if you’re ever in Metarie stop by Club Pilates on Metarie road and take an intro or a beginner class, I’m the only guy teaching there so I’m not hard to find.
