I'm toying with the idea of getting a personal trainer certification.
Actually, if I'm honest, I'm thinking of using that as a reward for my newest fitness goal.
For those of you who use a personal trainer, what certifications did you look for before choosing? Or, did that even matter to you?
Even better, are any of you personal trainers and have recommendations?
There are so many different certifications at WIDELY varying prices. I'm honestly not looking to change careers, I'm more like "I plan on working out at 4 or 5 am and I need a motivated partner to show up"

Do you have a degree? Do you want to train athletes?

My degree has nothing to do with fitness. I don't want to train athletes. I have no desire to change career paths. I honestly just want to be able to run a boot camp at the local dojo.

Do you really need to be a CPT to do that? Do you already have a routine in place or is that what you were hoping to get from the Certification work?

Im ISSA certified. You dont need it if you want to do basic programming at a gym, especially groups. Experience lifting and relating to people are more important, and honestly, having a desired physique goes the farthest. If you look like you know how to work out and can teach and instruct methodically, it means more than a certification. Also, if its a chain gym they will want you to use their programming which is usually cookie cutter and pretty shitty.

I am hoping to take on a client or two either in the mornings or evenings as well. I'm looking at NFPT as it has a lower cost than the others and I won't really need it for group stuff. I feel like the education aspect DEFINITELY won't hurt, and actually having a certification will definitely help when trying to pull in participants.

You don't need one to do that but with you having a degree you could do cscs.

Easiest to get or was the easiest is just ACE.

Btw all the mainstream ones are pretty much bullshite. Certifications from like starting strength and defranco's cpps are much much better.
