Long run/walk for the week complete
4:1 for most of the run, switched to 3:30/1:30 for miles 9-12 and then finally 3:00/2:00 for the last couple
Felt absolutely dead today
Rewarded myself with a cinnamon roll and honeycomb ice cream for second breakfast

I just want to run, and better my pace.
I can't say it better than Jack Daniels. his methodlogies in regards to EZ running is the foundation of all my coaching.
The way I teach it yo my younger runners is to stop focusing on pace and start focusing on feeling. I'm a big proponant of the 80/20 rules where 80% of your volume should be easy and when you're not easy most of it needs to be ALOT faster than steady.
Zone 3 brings the least benefit with the most injury risk. It's not slow enough to get big aerobic benefits and it's not fast enough to increase your Vo2 max.
Yes, there is a place for "threshhold" work but more of it should be built into a run rather than a type of run.
Say, 50 minutes where it's 15 minutes easy, 15 minutes steady, 10 minutes faster then steady (threshold), 5 minutes above threshold, 5 minutes cool down (slower than easy).
His VDOT chart is gold. Stands the test of time. Still used and implemented from middle school to olympians.
Check this link for a series of his videos like the one below

NSM is basically nothing but Zone 3 + easy and the whole point of it is to mitigate injuries.
But agree easy runs in zone 3 are too fast and are counterproductive.

Andreas Almgren wins the NYC Marathon off of enormous threshold volume. The Nordic style of training is about to get even more popular.
I haven't had a solid week of running in 6 weeks. My son had some major surgery. Hoping to get back to it soon.

Hope you get back to it soon.
NSM for sure has it's benefits. With this being my first full marathon build, I wanted to stay with conventional methods. May try NSM on the next build just to see the differences.

Been awhile but have my first 50k tomorrow over in Georgia. The 2am wakeup wont be great but the weather is looking absolutely perfect. First long race since the IT issues on the 27 miler almost 2 years ago, super excited to see how it goes.

I tried to be in zone 2 today for my 11.16 run but my whoop tells me it was zone 3.
Finished in 1:49. Felt great never really got more than 10 seconds off of pace
Last mile at 8:47 gave me a little confidence heading down the home stretch to first half marathon in a month

50k was a success, took a wrong turn so it ended up a little over 33 miles. Nailed nutrition this time, all those banded side steps for IT Band worked perfect and other than fatigue, feel fantastic. Time for burritos, ibuprofen and sleep.
