Looks like you are in the late stages of your training. Do you have a race coming up?

I would say early stages. I’ve got Chicago on 10/10

Okay. That makes sense for a marathon. 3 X 1-mile is more of a race specific workout for a 5K but can be an early tempo workout for long distances. I see now that you have those 3-minute jogging rest intervals in there.

Will this be your first race since the pandemic hit?

HB is one of the more experienced runners in this thread. If he ran year round, he’d be the fastest too and it wouldn’t be close.

Yeah. I remember when you jumped his arse for forcing himself through 20-mile runs when he was coming off a long break.

Second race since pandemic. Ran a 2:54:xx marathon back in November. If I have a strong summer and good race conditions I think I could beat that in October

Nice. That cooler weather will be perfect for a good marathon as long as it isn't too windy.

Stick around ~ an extra hour in Chicago and you’ll see me crossing the finish.

8 mile tempo to close out the spring trading sesh on sore but not tired legs. 3 up 8 temp 3 something down.

Time for a little rest before summer base building.

P.S. This was done in the Endorphin Pros which I think is superior to the speed even as a daily IMO. More stable, bouncier, and lighter. :)

I tend to agree, but I was concerned over the durability of the Pros long term. Not much of an issue now since Version 1 is cheap, but I do tend to want to pick up my Pros more than my Speeds.

Out of curiosity I have a question about calories burned. I know a watch is not very accurate and maybe that's the difference I'm seeing.

When I run 10 miles it takes me 1:30 just like your run. I usually burn right about the same calories you just posted, but that's running 4 less miles.

Is that difference due to the inaccuracy of measuring calories expended or is it the same amount of time running?

I feel like it’s more related to how much you weigh, but it’s never to be too exact.

My last 14 miler showed 1700 calories with an input weight of 195 lbs

This.

Edit: it’s related to how much you weigh the rest is just coincidental

I didn't even think about that. That makes sense. I'm just under 180.

Got 5 in on the trails this morning before the horse flies ran us off. Felt like a fricking wasp attack. Throw in heat and humidity and it was a "what did I get myself into" type of run.

10 mi this morning. I was curious on the calorie question as well. I’m 160 and Garmin shows 1,089 burned for an easy pace. Water weight lost was ~4.5 lbs. It was hot.

Strained my right psoas during heavy squats on Wednesday. Had to take a couple of days off, but I should be back at this this evening or tomorrow morning.
