A few months ago, I began getting a burning sensation in my left knee when I stretched it or bent it certain ways. I felt it mostly when going to sit down indian style on the floor, or getting up from indian style from the floor (I got in that position a lot to play with my one year old daughter if you're wondering why I was sitting like that so often). It would happen at the end of the process of sitting when getting close to the floor, or right at the beginning of getting up from the floor. This carried on for a couple months or so. It wasn't a crippling pain, just enough for me to say "ahh shite" or something like that, because it surprised me. Never felt any pain while doing squats or any other leg workouts.

Fast forward a few months, I no longer have the burning sensation pain, but my outer side of the same knee is basically numb. Again, not in a crippling way, but its numb to the touch. Kind of how your face feels after getting your mouth numbed at the dentist. It in no way effects my every day life, but its just odd. I haven't loss any strength in it, just numb to the touch.

Give me your best diagnosis.

Bop it with loaded sock! LOL

No, seriously, it may be something amiss in the meniscus. That’s all I know.

Certainly sounds like a nerve thing, burning was probably acute and tingling is compression like the previous poster said.

My first steps would be looking for upstream and downstream issues...
-Peroneal nerve wraps around that outer calf/shin. Work on tissue and stretch.
-Also work on top of calf just below the knee (back)
-Work on piriformis (plenty of stuff online)
-Work on IT band stiffness

Basically massage, but more in the “self myofascial release” sense.

If you can find a real sports therapy masseuse, it might be a good place to start.
