Looks like I'll be in this game too. Recent blood work had my testosterone level at 259.

But my free test level was 12.0 (normal), so not sure what to make of it all.

I wouldn’t lift the day of, last team I did bloodwork I finished a heavy lifting session about 30 minutes before bloodwork. after posting about it on here and did some research I’m certain that’s why my liver enzymes were elevated

3 months in and here’s where I’m at. I’m assuming a big change to the protocol is on the horizon for me. Currently 200mg every 2 weeks.

Total Testosterone: 290 ng/dL (194 before starting TRT)
Free Testosterone: 5.9 pg/mL (4.2 prior)

I’ve lost right at 38 pounds since April when I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I did this with lifestyle changes of a better diet (staying away from simple carbs) and a lot of exercise. My A1C has dropped from 6.6 to 5.9 in that time also.

All other labs are in normal range. We took the labs just before taking my next injection, so this is my deepest trough. I assume that’s when you should take the labs.

Should I expect something in the realm of 150mg once a week? Just waiting on the call from the doc to schedule an appointment.

Every two weeks is a terrible protocol. You’re basically back at square one with low T that whole second week, major peaks and troughs. That injection was lone gone by the time you drew your labs. I draw in my trough by I inject twice a week. Curious to see what your provider does with this. I would definitely ask him to increase dose frequency to one a week at minimum.

So I’m basically in the same boat as AFtigerFan. My primary just started me off at 100mg every 14 days. I have an appointment setup for Dec 5th at a trt clinic. In the mean time, should I just do 50mg once a week? I just started Monday. After reading it seems like this would at least keep my levels more consistent. Also if someone could send me a website to order from so that I can have extra on hand until my appointment. My insurance does cover, but would like to have a backup. Appreciate any help! I agree. Would asking for 150mg, once a week be a good starting point? Or would you think 100mg, once a week? I’ll probably talk to the doc later this week.

150mg once a week min or better would be 75mg 2x per week

Find a new provider. That is chemical castration. Literally. You will take just enough to shut down your ball factory and not enough exogenous to feel worth a shite

You really have to do your homework these days. It’s sad how many providers know absolutely fricking nothing about HRT. The testosterone stigma chaps my arse. Since I’ve started TRT, My life has done a 180 and these cock suckers try to gate keep it every chance they can.

Looks like my doc wants to go to 200mg, once every 10 days and check my labs again before getting more aggressive. Says this is the most used protocol (injection every 10 days) for his patients and will adjust again if needed.

I wouldn’t do it but I hope it works out for ya. I’d dig into some TRT research in the meantime.

This is 200mg q10 days vs 100mg q5 days for comparison. The goal is to minimize spikes and troughs

I might just do the 5-day injections anyway. This is the same graph I showed the doc.

Same dose… just administered a much better way. Your e2 and h&h will appreciate it and you’ll feel better overall with much less drops in levels.

But if you trust your provider, I’d follow his recs. I’m just a guy on the internet who’s read about this stuff way too much.

It just makes too much sense to me that more frequent injections keep your levels more stable. As long as you can tolerate the IM injections more often, then why not? I’ll just rotate my arse cheek side each time.

Not sure what size needles they have you using but 27g 1/2” does the job and will create way less scar tissue over time. Even when I was much bigger, 1/2” did the job.

Unc, what's the prescribed T....T-C or T-E....and what's the difference?

In the land of the free, test C is usually prescribed. The difference is half life with E having a half life 2-3 days shorter than C.

difference is roughly 1 carbon on the ester chain, type of carbon structure, half life, and % of the overall weight the ester makes up.

in the real world....very little difference. injections 1-2x per week or every 4-5th day work very well for both. in terms of TRT almost nil difference between the two esters.

Thanks guys.

Thinking of going grey market and self-treating my T that’s in the 250s. 100 mg every week, per my reading.

Any pros or cons on that idea is appreciated, other blood values to watch, etc.
