Maintaining through surgery recovery: how can I best protect my gains?

You may have seen my post on the OT, but I’m scheduled for sinus surgery on Friday, July 21st. From what I understand, I’ll have a strict “no lifting anything” for two weeks and considering the general public (and medical field’s) definition of “lifting heavy,” I have a feeling the doctor will not want me lifting real heavy for three to four weeks.
Out of all of the disappointment coming with needing surgery, my biggest overall - and I think this board is the only one that could understand - is the break from working out.
I’m so close to my personal goal of a 225 bench/315 squat/405 deadlift. I know it’s arbitrary, but I really wanted to get there. I already have the bench, and I estimated I could get the squat and deadlift by the start of October.
Anyways, I figure keeping protein intake high and not being a couch potato is the only real way to save strength.
Anyone go through surgery or illness and have any tricks to share?

Most legitimate trainers will tell you a break and reset will only help long term gains.

Mike Mentzer says take a week off.
ETA: Every week.

Goals never feel the same when they’re reached. It’s all in the journey to the goal.
Lost 10lbs with the flu over the last two weeks. Having to remind myself of this as well.

I just took a week off from training and it actually helped me greatly. Continue with high protein and take a 30 minute walk everyday. If you have been training real intense this will likely help you as a 7 to 14 day break is needed especially if training naturally. Not going to look up the statistics but it takes like 4 to 6 weeks off for a reduction in strength and VO2 max etc.

Low carb and high protein diet maybe? I dunno, just don't eat like shite and i think you'll be ok.

I'd just take your 2 weeks off and then when you come back spend 2 weeks or so doing unilateral stuff so the weights are lighter. Keep protein high and you'll be fine. Work on mobility throughout the month and you'll end up making more progress when you get back
