Lost 40 pounds with minimal changes, could it have been medication related?

I’m just under 6 feet and my weight reached 215 pounds and I’m now down to 175. I’ve been a bit more careful about what I’m eating and been a bit better about getting to the gym. But even when I splurge on burgers and pizza etc, I’m losing weight.

I switched from Pristiq to Zoloft and my mood and energy have been a lot better. I’m wondering if the Pristiq could have been to blame for my weight? I don’t see a lot of evidence that it would be responsible from my research but wondering if anyone has personal experiences similar to mine.

I really had to watch my diet and got down to a similar weight. I'm not hugely active either and never lifted weights. Diet is the linchpin of everything. You obviously kept it under your requirements. How fast did you lose it?

I experienced the same thing a few years ago. Was losing weight without trying. Turned out I was diabetic and my blood sugar was high which caused weight loss. Not saying that’s the case with u but if you’re having any other symptoms maybe get checked out?

Over how long period?

Can you define better “a little more careful”. Maybe rough estimate on general day less calories in?

If you are truly having unexplained weight loss of that quantity, you need to go see your primary care doctor.

I stopped drinking alcohol completely for two months and lost 15 pounds. I did not change anything else.

25 in 60 days is not concerning. Interested in OP's timeframe. Could be dangerous and require medical diagnosis.

Having clients on a wide range of anti-depressants (and switching between those), that amount of weight loss is surprising unless the Pristiq was just flat out not working and you were exhibit depressive symptoms where you were working out/overeating consistently.

I’d see a doctor about that to make sure there isn’t something physiological going on.
