For fat loss IF is nothing more than an easy way to restrict calories.

This isn't exactly true though. While it can be a factor, studies are showing that fasting leads to improvements in body composition even when not on a calorie deficit due to the effects on insulin.

I'll try to post this in the other IF thread, but this is a good Consider This summary video on IF.

This is the only time I've ever heard that drinking black coffee is bad. In fact most of the articles & videos I've seen encourage it.

It’s really not that serious.

IF is effective imo because it’s an organized way of limiting calorie intake that allows you to feel satisfied when you do eat, even if once a day. All of the extra shite about ketones is not that big of deal, it’s mostly the calorie deficit. It’s not something to get hooked up on and not think you’ll get results if you can’t follow perfectly.

Any drastic calorie deficit will cause rapid weight loss that also reduces muscle with increasing deficit size, which will reduce your metabolism when considering factors other than fat maintenance.
Although people are typically trying to refer to metabolic processes becoming less efficient, that’s just not something worth considering not dieting because of. Of course many people being “starvation mode” to mind and it’s just a ridiculous exaggeration that shouldn’t be of concern unless someone is going actual days without consuming any calories period.

But what you should be worried about is your long term plans to maintain weight loss. You cannot just lose the weight and expect it to not come right back on thrice as fast as you lost it. You’ll need to get the scale weekly and make the appropriate eating choices depending on what it reflects unless you just decide to just count calories forever

The hardest part of dieting is starting and also getting out of the habit of thinking about food when and how you normally do. Results are within reach and when you see them it’ll all be a lot easier

Of course, my opinions are just my own and I’m not one to emphasize only healthy weight loss methods because anything is sure as Hell better than being fat. After ten years of dieting it’s all about calories and mental strength. People get stuck on the little things because they don’t want to start

Link to actual study please. The newest studies I have scene shower no extra fat loss but that fat loss tends to come from low blood flow areas unlike basic caloric restriction.

Agree completely. I have always exercise but didn't eat clean. Basically I was exercising to eat what I want. But when you 40+ its harder to stay leaner so I made the choice to go all in.

I have been doing IF for the last 7 months and has lost 28 to 30lbs. Remember its not a sprint. I started with a 12 hours fast to get adjusted and now I am doing 16 to 18 hrs depending on whats going on. I also do a 24 hour fast every 10 to 14 days.

I do kind of cheat on the fast some days- ie BCAA, Creatine or even a MONSTER with 0 calories. I know most say those break the fast but it has worked for me. I also eat pizza or Popeyes in my eating window at times but don't go crazy. Not really a beer drinker so that isn't an issue.

This board and LSU777 has been very helpful with the things they post.
