I have been experiencing a lot of pain in the back of my right leg. It started over 2 months ago and has progressively gotten worse. I can deal with the pain, but I can’t deal with a recent development where my right leg now feels like it’s weak. The pain is constant while sitting and I often have to make frequent pauses while driving to walk around now. Is this sciatica? Or could it be worse?

I am on my feet a lot and experience differing levels of pain in my back, my feet and my legs. One of the things that I've noticed is pain will increase with different shoes I wear. I've had some luck with Altra, the only zero-drop shoes I've tried, though there are many others. It's been mostly trial and error. I wish you luck as I know how brutal it can be.

Thank you for your advice, and yes it is undoubtedly a brutal journey.

Sounds like sciatica but if it’s been going on this long you need to find out what’s compressing the nerve.

This. Something, maybe a disc, is compressing the nerve. The longer you wait, the more permanent damage you do to the nerve. I speak from experience. My right calf is now smaller than my left since I waited a year to have back surgery 20 years ago.

Well I went to a neurologist and he assured me it’s nothong chronic, but he did say that it sounds like sciatica.

He said I should try a chiropractor first and then go from there.

If you haven’t had a MRI you need to get one scheduled just to be sure it isn’t serious. I’ll take the results from a MRI over someone’s opinion.
