I started Intermittent last week and have already dropped 9 pounds. It wasn't an enormous lifestyle change, as I already barely ate breakfast (though I did drop the sugar and creme in my coffee). The hardest part I have had is the 6PM to 11PM time, where I hadn't noticed how much I was snacking. Also, about 10 AM, I am starving, but hold out until 11 to eat lunch.

Anyway, I was amazed at how much weight I have dropped. I have carb counted and exercised before, but weight loss was slow. I have seen this topic discussed here, so I was wondering if anyone had any tips for maintaining or things that worked for them when they were IF.

What's your eating window and are you trying to hit certain macros?

It gets better.

This part too.

It gets super easy the longer you do it.

I’ve been doing a keto/IF mix the past 2 months without any exercise Im down 22 pounds currently

I don’t even think about food until like 3 PM.

It helps I’m WFH now so there’s not nearly as much temptation and more ability to quickly cook something up, but in terms of training your stomach, your body will adjust quickly. Just fight through it.

Early on if I got a real bad hankering for a “snack” later at night then I might sneak in a Diet Coke just to feel like I had something. But that’s not even an issue anymore

I am not doing any food tracking yet. I simply eat dinner at 6PM and do not eat anything else until 11AM the next day. I am cutting back on soft drinks and junk food during my eating window, but I am only a week in right now.

Eventually you will have to go longer to lose weight. Work your way up to a 1 hour eating window a day and then start skipping days and going up to 48 hours. Keep it up.

My wife is big into IF herself. When she gets to this point, she will just drink as much water as possible. Seams to help her power through, although, she doesn't recommend this at night

I fast regularly, and have for almost 20 years. I just didn’t know what it was called

Now I do basically a 4 hour eating window daily, except Sunday where I do a 6 hour window, and Monday where I skip altogether

So I eat dinner Sunday night then won’t eat again until Tuesday lunch.

I had always been in very good shape being an athlete, but 2019 I kinda stopped working out and training, and went from 180 to 210 in 6 months. I got strict with the fasting, and started doing daily calisthenics routines as well as a Ton of stretching and yoga

6 months after I hit 2010, I was back down between 175-180 really lean, with more muscle than I have ever carried before

I love fasting

You should incorporate ketosis into your lifestyle then look into OMAD, the weight will literally melt away
